Mary Maschal Lecture Series
The Mary Maschal Lecture Series provides a platform for scholars, artists, journalists, activists, and other thought leaders to share information on issues of importance to women.

Presented by the Women’s Museum of California, the program is named in honor of Mary Maschal (1924-1998), the leader who established the Museum in 1983 as the Women’s History Reclamation Project. Maschal believed that women were underrepresented and under-recognized in written history. She sought to address the gaps in knowledge and inspire women and girls by creating a place where diverse stories could be collected, and people could come together to learn about feminism and women in history.
All Lecture Series events are free and open to the public.
The 2022 lecture series is made possible with funding from the San Diego Woman's Club.
Dressed for Freedom: The Politics of Fashion in American History

This talk will examine how fashion became a tool to express and challenge gender, race, and class identities and how women used it to advance their political agendas - from the suffragists to today's politicians.
Intervention and Collaborative Prevention for Domestic Violence

Crystal will discuss how intervention and prevention programs help to increase the safety of victims and the community at large, specifically when collaborative, community-based prevention/early intervention efforts, like San Diego's High Risk Team are made aimed at reducing social and economic risk factors for victims and their dependents experiencing intimate partner violence.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Title IX, this talk will review the women and history of the groundbreaking legislation as well as its impact on women and girls in sports and society through the years.

Allison has a lifetime of experience as a woman in sports, first as a Div. I athlete and then as a professional working with athletes from youth and high school sports to elite, professional and Olympic level athletes and teams. She has been to 3 Olympic and Paralympic Games supporting Team USA.
